The Corn Exchange Clock – back to the future

There’s a very special clock at the Corn Exchange in Rochester that’s been telling people the time since 1771. That makes it 246 years old.

The clock has had to be taken away to be repaired so that it can last for at least another 246 years.  The clock has had to be repaired before. The last time it needed repairing was in 1950, 67 years ago - probably before your parents and even your grandparents were born.

Hopefully the clock won’t need to be repaired again for a long time, perhaps another 67 years. But before the clock is put back in place, high above Rochester High Street in September,  we want to put a time capsule inside that will help children in the future understand what it was like living here in 2017.

We’d like you to tell the children of the future, what’s the best thing about living in Medway in 2017. Tell them below.

Dear Medway children of the future, I thought you might like to know something about living in Medway in 2017.
