Saturday 10 and 17 June 2017
For our younger visitors we have our very own friendly rat character, Samuel Squeaks.
Samuel will be popping up in various places to help everyone understand the story of the Battle of Medway.
He’ll explain how he grew up in London during the plague, how he fled the great fire, and how he ended up on board a ship on that fateful day in June 1667.
You'll also meet Samuel’s friend, a rather flamboyant Dutch rat called Andries, and find out how their friendship grew.
So follow Samuel for fun and frolics during the Battle of Medway fortnight, find out where he is each day and come and say hello. Samuel is a very friendly rat and has great stories to tell, so why not invite him to come and visit your school or event?
We're holding stories and crafts with Samuel Squeak for under 8s at the 4 main hub libraries of Chatham, Gillingham, Strood and Rochester.
At the event you can hear how Samuel Squeaks escaped the plague and ended up in Medway 350 years ago – you will also meet him in person. This storytelling session is mixed with arts and crafts and is one not to be missed.
